A surprise late-night phone call from Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan turned into one of the most talked-about real estate deals in Ayodhya, according to Abhinandan Lodha, Chairman of The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL).
Sharing the story behind the investment, Lodha recalled how Bachchan’s determination and swift decision-making resulted in a ₹15 crore land purchase that was completed almost immediately. The revelation also sheds light on the actor’s growing real estate portfolio in Ayodhya, a city witnessing rapid infrastructure growth and increasing investor interest.
A 3 A.M. Call That Changed Everything
Abhinandan Lodha revealed that the incident took place in 2023 while he was travelling in Australia. He noticed several missed calls and a message from Amitabh Bachchan asking him to return the call.
When Lodha finally spoke to the veteran actor, Bachchan made his intention crystal clear. Saying, “Main UP se hoon aur mujhe Ayodhya mein land leni hai” (I am from Uttar Pradesh and I want to buy land in Ayodhya), the actor expressed his desire to invest in the temple city. According to Lodha, the conversation was brief but decisive, reflecting Bachchan’s confidence and clarity about the investment.
₹15 Crore Transferred Within a Day
During the discussion, Lodha informed Bachchan that a 15,000-square-foot plot would cost approximately ₹15 crore. What happened next surprised even the businessman. Lodha revealed that the entire amount was transferred by Amitabh Bachchan the very next day, allowing the transaction to move forward without delay. The swift payment highlighted the actor’s strong belief in Ayodhya’s long-term potential and his willingness to invest in premium real estate.
Expanding His Ayodhya Portfolio
The ₹15 crore purchase was only the beginning of Bachchan’s investments in Ayodhya. In March 2026, the actor further expanded his holdings by acquiring a 2.67-acre parcel of land reportedly worth ₹35 crore. He has also invested in luxury plots developed by The House of Abhinandan Lodha under its premium project, The Sarayu.
These acquisitions make him one of the prominent celebrity investors betting on the city’s future.

Speaking about the investment, Abhinandan Lodha said land should be viewed as an “intergenerational asset” capable of creating wealth over decades. These developments, he believes, are driving long-term demand for premium real estate.
