Big Exit at TV9 Network: CHRO Devlina Sanyal Majumdar and HR VP Kshipra Patil Step Down Amid BIG FM Buzz

A significant leadership reshuffle appears to be underway at TV9 Network, one of India’s leading news broadcasters. According to industry reports, the network’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Devlina Sanyal Majumdar, has resigned from her position. In another major development, Kshipra Patil, Vice President of Human Resources, has also put in her papers.

The dual resignations have sparked considerable discussion within media circles, particularly because both executives joined TV9 Network together in February 2022 and have played a key role in shaping the company’s people and organisational strategies over the past four years.

Sources suggest that while Majumdar has formally submitted her resignation, the management is yet to officially accept it. This has led to speculation that discussions regarding the transition may still be ongoing behind the scenes. Nevertheless, reports indicate that both Majumdar and Patil could be headed to BIG FM, where they are expected to take up senior leadership roles. Neither BIG FM nor the executives have officially commented on the reports.

The departures are noteworthy because of the critical responsibilities handled by the duo at TV9 Network. As CHRO, Devlina Sanyal Majumdar was instrumental in overseeing talent management, organisational development and employee engagement initiatives. Her role extended beyond traditional human resources functions. She also served as Director of Business Affairs for Studio 9, the network’s production arm, where she supervised business operations and revenue development.

Majumdar is widely regarded as one of the most experienced HR leaders in India’s media sector. With more than 25 years of professional experience, she has held leadership positions at several major media companies, including Viacom18, TV Today Network and Zoom Entertainment.

Throughout her career, she has earned recognition for advocating progressive workplace policies and pushing for more inclusive corporate cultures. During her tenure as Chief of Staff at Culture Machine Media and Rainshine Entertainment, she introduced the “First Day of Period” leave policy for female employees, an initiative that received widespread attention both in India and internationally.

Beyond policy implementation, Majumdar has consistently advocated for a broader understanding of diversity, equality and inclusion, arguing that workplace inclusivity should go far beyond conventional definitions.

Her academic background also reflects her deep understanding of human behaviour and organisational dynamics. She holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Calcutta and a Master’s degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Mumbai.

For TV9 Network, the simultaneous exit of its two top HR executives represents a major leadership challenge. Replacing experienced professionals who have helped shape the company’s organisational culture and strategic direction will not be an easy task.

As industry observers wait for official announcements, all eyes are now on how TV9 Network plans to manage this leadership transition and whether the reported move to BIG FM will indeed become the next chapter in the careers of these two veteran media professionals.
