Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna’s Cocktail 2 is proving that audiences are still willing to turn up for a romantic entertainer. The film has enjoyed a strong opening weekend and is now racing towards the ₹100 crore mark worldwide, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and viewers.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit Cocktail. The original film, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, became a cult favourite over the years, and expectations from the sequel were naturally high.

The film got off to a flying start with an India net opening of around ₹13.5 crore. Strong advance bookings and the buzz surrounding the fresh pairing of Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika helped the movie gain momentum right from day one. The absence of any major Bollywood competition in theatres also worked in its favour.

By the end of its opening weekend, the film had crossed ₹76 crore globally and was steadily moving towards the coveted ₹100 crore milestone. Trade analysts believe positive audience curiosity and family footfalls over the weekend played a major role in boosting collections.

Interestingly, Cocktail 2 has managed to achieve these numbers despite a divided response. While some viewers have praised the performances and emotional moments, others have criticised parts of the screenplay and narrative. However, the box office performance suggests that the film’s music, star cast and youthful appeal have struck a chord with moviegoers.

For Shahid Kapoor, the film marks one of his strongest commercial openings in recent years. It is also another box office success for Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, both of whom continue to enjoy a successful run in mainstream cinema.

With weekdays now becoming the real test, all eyes are on whether Cocktail 2 can maintain its momentum and comfortably cross the ₹100 crore worldwide mark. If it does, the film could emerge as one of Bollywood’s biggest romantic successes of 2026 and further prove that love stories still have a place on the big screen.
