The box office turned into a battleground on Sunday as multiple films competed for audiences across genres. From romantic comedies and family dramas to horror and emotional storytelling, cinema lovers had plenty of choices. Yet, two films clearly emerged as the weekend’s biggest winners—Cocktail 2 and Maa Inti Bangaaram. At the same time, Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga quietly continued its impressive run, proving that strong content can hold its ground even amid tough competition.

Leading the charge was Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna. The romantic-comedy witnessed a massive jump on Sunday, collecting an estimated ₹17.75 crore nett in India. With this, its opening weekend collection reached a solid ₹47.50 crore nett. Internationally, the film has also struck a chord with audiences, crossing ₹76 crore gross worldwide and setting itself up for a promising first week.

Meanwhile, Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s comeback film Maa Inti Bangaaram continued to gather momentum. Directed by B.V. Nandini Reddy, the Telugu family action-drama has been receiving glowing word-of-mouth reviews. After a strong Saturday, the film maintained its pace on Sunday and earned over ₹14.90 crore gross domestically. Its worldwide gross has comfortably crossed ₹25 crore, with Samantha’s performance emerging as one of the film’s biggest talking points.

Interestingly, the arrival of new releases did little to dent the performance of Main Vaapas Aaunga. The Imtiaz Ali directorial, featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina, showed remarkable staying power in its second weekend. On its tenth day, the film collected ₹5.75 crore nett, taking its total domestic earnings to ₹24.25 crore nett. Its worldwide gross has already crossed ₹40 crore, with audiences continuing to connect with Diljit’s heartfelt performance and Imtiaz’s signature storytelling.

Elsewhere, films like Peddi, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, and Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai struggled to match the pace of the front-runners. While they managed to find niche audiences, their growth remained limited due to the overwhelming dominance of Cocktail 2 and Maa Inti Bangaaram.

All in all, Sunday’s box office report paints an encouraging picture for the film industry. While Cocktail 2 and Maa Inti Bangaaram dominated the headlines, Main Vaapas Aaunga reminded everyone that good storytelling can continue to thrive, even in the face of fierce competition.
