Bollywood has found its newest box office winner, and it’s powered by nostalgia, emotions, and a star-studded cast. Fourteen years after Cocktail became a cult favourite among movie lovers, Cocktail 2 has arrived with a bang and is already dominating the ticket counters across the world.
Directed by Homi Adajania, who also helmed the 2012 original, Cocktail 2 stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. The romantic drama has delivered an impressive performance in its opening weekend and has continued its momentum even on Monday, a day that often tests a film’s staying power.
According to trade reports, the film earned a solid ₹6.35 crore net in India on its fourth day despite being a working Monday. With this, its domestic net collection has climbed to ₹53.85 crore. The film’s gross collection in India stands at ₹64.56 crore, while it has also earned an impressive ₹20.75 crore from overseas markets. Combining both figures, Cocktail 2 has amassed a massive ₹85.31 crore worldwide in just four days.
The film is now comfortably racing towards the coveted ₹100 crore milestone, which it is expected to cross in the next few days.
What’s making this success even more remarkable is the intense competition it has faced at the box office. Cocktail 2 has been competing with Bobby Deol’s Bandar, Imtiaz Ali’s much-talked-about Main Vaapas Aaunga, and several international horror releases. Despite the crowded marketplace, the Shahid-Kriti-Rashmika starrer has managed to maintain strong audience interest.
The film opened with ₹13.5 crore on Friday and witnessed steady growth over the weekend. It collected ₹16.25 crore on Saturday and reached its highest single-day collection of ₹17.75 crore on Sunday. Such consistent growth reflects strong word-of-mouth and growing audience curiosity.
While comparisons with the original Cocktail are inevitable, the sequel takes a completely different route. Unlike the 2012 film, which revolved around complicated relationships and commitment issues, Cocktail 2 explores an entirely new story filled with emotional chaos, unexpected twists and unpredictable dynamics between its three lead characters.
With packed theatres, buzzing social media discussions and strong box office numbers, Cocktail 2 is rapidly emerging as one of the biggest theatrical successes of the season and proving that audiences still have an appetite for entertaining relationship dramas with a fresh twist.
