Police claimed at least four people were killed and more than 20 others wounded after a Volvo bus hit a trailer truck on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district early Tuesday. The bus was carrying around 65 people when it collided with the vehicle at Milestone 112, within the jurisdiction of Raya Police Station.
The bus collided with the trailer truck in front of it, triggering a severe collision that smashed the front part of the bus and caused the passengers to panic, police said. Emergency personnel reached the scene quickly after the collision and the wounded were transported for treatment.
Officials stated four persons perished in the collision and 19 others were getting treatment. Another source indicated around 25 people were hurt but none were in severe condition.
Police are looking into the accident to establish exactly what caused the collision. The event once again underlines the dangers of high-speed traffic on the Yamuna Expressway, one of the busiest road linkages in the area.
