Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh‘s action thriller Alpha has shown encouraging signs at the box office despite the usual weekday slowdown. The latest installment in the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe witnessed a positive jump in collections on its fifth day, thanks to discounted ticket pricing across major multiplex chains. After experiencing a sharp dip on its first Monday, Alpha managed to bounce back on Tuesday by earning ₹4.25 crore net at the Indian box office. The figure represents a 10.4% increase over Monday’s ₹3.85 crore collection, giving the film fresh momentum during the crucial weekday period.
The rise in earnings has largely been credited to Tuesday’s special ticket offers, which attracted more moviegoers to theatres. Discounted ticket prices have become a successful strategy for multiplex chains in recent years, helping boost occupancy and encouraging families and casual viewers to watch films during weekdays.
With the latest collections, Alpha has now earned ₹42.10 crore net in India within five days of release. Its India gross collection stands at ₹50.23 crore, while overseas markets have contributed another ₹19.80 crore. Together, the film has crossed the ₹70 crore mark globally, taking its worldwide gross total to ₹70.03 crore. Apart from improved collections, the film also recorded better occupancy numbers on Tuesday. Theatre owners increased the number of screenings from 6,997 on Monday to 7,173 shows across the country, reflecting continued confidence in the film’s theatrical run.
Overall Hindi occupancy climbed to 19.06%, a significant improvement from Monday’s 12.38%. While morning shows registered a modest response of around 9%, audience turnout gradually increased throughout the day. Night shows performed particularly well, recording occupancy close to 30%, indicating that evening audiences responded positively to the discounted ticket pricing.
Produced under the Yash Raj Films banner, Alpha marks the first female-led chapter in the studio’s successful Spy Universe. Headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, the film has generated considerable interest for introducing a new direction to the blockbuster franchise traditionally dominated by male action heroes.
Although the film has crossed an important milestone by entering the ₹70 crore worldwide club within five days, industry observers believe the journey ahead remains challenging. With reports suggesting a production budget of around ₹100 crore, Alpha will need to maintain steady collections over the coming weeks to strengthen its commercial prospects. The real challenge will begin as new domestic and international releases arrive in theatres. For now, however, Tuesday’s growth has provided the film with a much-needed boost, keeping its box office run stable and giving the makers reason to remain optimistic about its performance in the days ahead.
