Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas have once again given fans a glimpse into their heartwarming love story. During an appearance on the Hey Jonas podcast, the couple revisited the beginning of their relationship, with Nick sharing a screenshot of the very first direct message (DM) he sent Priyanka on Twitter now known as X nearly a decade ago.
The nostalgic moment offered fans a rare look at how one of the entertainment industry’s most admired couples first connected before eventually falling in love and getting married in 2018.
The Message That Started It All
Nick Jonas revealed that his interest in Priyanka Chopra began after his older brother, Kevin Jonas, introduced him to her work. Kevin had spotted a billboard promoting Priyanka’s hit American television series Quantico and encouraged Nick to check her out.
Curious, Nick searched for Priyanka on Twitter and noticed that they were already following each other. He decided to take a chance and send her a direct message that would ultimately change both their lives.
The message read:
“Hello, I have heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people. Are you in LA anytime soon?”
Priyanka didn’t take long to reply. Instead of continuing the conversation through social media, she suggested moving to text messages for privacy, explaining that members of her team also had access to her Twitter account.
Her response was equally memorable:
“Hey… Graham’s told me so much about you… Let’s text, more private. My team can access this.”
That simple exchange marked the beginning of a friendship that would later blossom into romance.
Nick Asked for a ‘Verification’ Selfie
One of the funniest stories shared during the podcast involved Nick wanting to make sure he was actually texting Priyanka Chopra and not someone pretending to be her. Priyanka recalled that Nick asked her to send a selfie looking directly into the camera with a timestamp so he could verify her identity.
Laughing about the moment, she admitted she appreciated the caution and happily sent the requested photo after attending a fashion show. Although the two started texting regularly soon afterward, they didn’t officially begin dating until nearly a year and a half later. Their relationship eventually led to a lavish wedding in 2018, making them one of the most beloved celebrity couples in the world.
Nick’s Unexpected Love for Bollywood Gossip
The conversation also revealed an amusing side of Nick Jonas that many fans may not know. Priyanka joked that her husband has become surprisingly invested in Bollywood gossip. According to her, Nick secretly follows several Instagram accounts dedicated to entertainment news and industry updates.
Nick admitted he enjoys keeping up with the latest developments involving Bollywood actors, filmmakers and writers. In fact, Priyanka laughed that her husband often knows about celebrity breakups and industry rumors before she does.
She recalled instances where she asked Nick to send her greetings to mutual friends, only for him to respond that the couple had already broken up.
Embracing Indian Culture
Priyanka also praised Nick for wholeheartedly embracing Indian traditions after their marriage. She shared that while she was away filming, Nick even hosted a Holi celebration at their home, complete with specially curated Indian food and festive arrangements. His enthusiasm for Indian festivals and culture, she said, reflects the respect and love he has for her heritage.
Busy Times Ahead for Priyanka
Professionally, Priyanka Chopra continues to balance projects across Hollywood and Indian cinema. After appearing in Citadel Season 2, she is set to star in The Bluff, directed by Frank E. Flowers. She is also gearing up for filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated film Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
While their careers keep them busy across continents, moments like these remind fans that one heartfelt message and a little curiosity can sometimes lead to an extraordinary love story.
