Netflix’s latest Hindi release, Maa Behen, has become one of the most talked-about OTT films of the year. Released on June 4, 2026, the female-led crime comedy marks the return of director Suresh Triveni, known for acclaimed films like Tumhari Sulu and Jalsa. This time, he delivers an entertaining mix of family drama, dark humour and unexpected crime, all wrapped in a delightfully chaotic story. (Netflix)

The film revolves around a dysfunctional mother-daughter trio whose lives spiral out of control after a dead body mysteriously turns up in their kitchen. Forced to work together to hide the shocking incident, the three women find themselves caught in a series of misunderstandings, secrets and hilarious mishaps.

The cast is undoubtedly one of the film’s biggest strengths. Madhuri Dixit leads the film as Rekha, a traditional yet unconventional mother trying to hold her fractured family together. Madhuri is in excellent form, bringing charm, comic timing and emotional depth to the role. Fans have especially loved seeing the actress step away from glamorous characters and embrace an eccentric, flawed woman whose decisions create both chaos and laughter.

Triptii Dimri plays Jaya, Rekha’s elder daughter who is stuck in an unfulfilling marriage and desperately wants to break free from societal expectations. Triptii delivers one of the film’s standout performances, balancing vulnerability and rebellion with remarkable ease. Several viewers and critics have praised her portrayal, calling it a refreshing departure from the image she gained after Animal.

The biggest surprise package, however, is Dharna Durga as Sushma, the younger daughter and an aspiring influencer. Making an impressive debut, Dharna brings infectious energy and natural humour to the screen. Her chemistry with Madhuri and Triptii has become one of the most appreciated aspects of the film, with many viewers saying she effortlessly holds her own alongside two established stars.

The supporting cast, including Ravi Kishan, Geetanjali Kulkarni and Arunoday Singh, further elevates the narrative with memorable performances and quirky characters. (Netflix)

As for reviews, Maa Behen has received mixed-to-positive reactions. Many viewers have praised its fearless female characters, offbeat humour and emotional undercurrent. Others felt the screenplay occasionally becomes uneven and overstuffed. Yet even critics who had reservations acknowledged the performances and the film’s refreshing premise.

At its heart, Maa Behen is about imperfect women trying to survive extraordinary circumstances while rediscovering their bond. It is messy, chaotic and sometimes outrageous—but that very unpredictability makes it an entertaining watch. And above all, it reminds audiences that when Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga share the screen, sparks are bound to fly. (Netflix)
