The Cockroach Janata Party has announced a fresh protest in Pune on June 11, stepping up its campaign against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The demonstration is set to take place at Savitribai Phule Pune University, with organisers demanding the minister’s resignation over ongoing concerns in the education sector.

Party founder Abhijeet Dipke said the protest will begin at 4 pm and is expected to draw participation from students, education activists, and members of the public. In a social media announcement, the group urged supporters to gather in large numbers, positioning the protest as a continuation of its growing movement.

Dipke said Pune was deliberately chosen due to its reputation as Maharashtra’s education hub, aiming to spotlight issues affecting students and academic institutions across the country. The party has consistently raised concerns about the handling of examinations and broader systemic challenges within India’s education framework.

This will be the party’s second major public demonstration after its debut protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 6. The earlier rally saw participation from students, parents, and activists, gaining attention for its symbolic and unconventional approach.

Dipke, who travelled from the United States to attend the Delhi protest, was joined by environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, adding visibility to the event. Demonstrators were seen wearing cockroach masks and carrying flowers, a symbolic gesture that the party says represents resilience and protest against systemic neglect.

The participation of school students alongside their parents underscored the wider public concern over education-related issues. The party has indicated that it plans to expand its campaign through similar protests and awareness drives in different parts of the country in the coming weeks.

With the upcoming Pune protest, the Cockroach Janata Party is seeking to build momentum and amplify its demand for accountability in the education sector, placing increased pressure on the government and the education ministry.
