Mumbai: The box office battle has entered a crucial phase as several films continue to compete for audience attention in cinemas. While movies such as Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur: The Movie have been making their presence felt, recently released Daayra and Vibe are witnessing a noticeable slowdown in collections.

Both films have completed five days in theatres, and their early box office trajectory suggests that the transition from the opening weekend to weekdays has been challenging. Initial figures for Tuesday, the fifth day, show that neither film managed to record a major jump in collections.

Daayra Sees Sharp Drop After Opening Weekend

Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, Daayra opened with around ₹1 crore on its first day. The film witnessed a rise over the following two days, collecting approximately ₹1.75 crore each on Saturday and Sunday.

However, the momentum did not continue into the weekdays. On its fourth day, Daayra collected only around ₹50 lakh, marking a significant decline from its weekend performance.

On Tuesday, the fifth day, the film has so far recorded an estimated ₹28 lakh net collection in India. This takes its reported total India net collection to approximately ₹5.28 crore, while its gross collection stands at around ₹6.33 crore.

The final collection for Day 5 is yet to be reported and could change once the complete day’s figures are available.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Daayra now faces the challenge of maintaining audience interest during the weekdays and building momentum ahead of the next weekend.

Vibe Also Struggles To Maintain Momentum

Meanwhile, Vibe, starring Kunal Khemu, Sparsh Shrivastav and Preity Zinta, is facing a similar weekday slowdown.

The film opened with around ₹1.70 crore on Day 1. Its collections improved over the next two days, with the film earning approximately ₹2.75 crore on Day 2 and ₹3 crore on Day 3.

The picture changed considerably on Monday. Vibe collected around ₹90 lakh on Day 4, bringing its five-day run into focus as the film entered the weekday phase.

On Tuesday, early figures indicate that the film has earned approximately ₹53 lakh net so far. Its reported India net collection has consequently reached around ₹8.88 crore, while the total gross collection is approximately ₹10.63 crore.

As with Daayra, the final Day 5 figure is still awaited.

Weekend Momentum Fades During Weekdays

The early performance of both films shows a similar pattern: strong audience activity over the weekend followed by a substantial decline once the working week began.

Vibe has maintained a higher overall collection than Daayra, helped by its stronger opening weekend. However, its Day 4 and Day 5 figures also indicate that the film is experiencing the same weekday pressure.

Daayra, meanwhile, has seen a sharper contraction after its opening weekend, with its collection falling below the ₹1 crore mark from Day 4 onward.

What Lies Ahead?

The next few days could be important for both films. Wednesday and Thursday collections will indicate whether they can stabilise their weekday performance before the second weekend.

For Vibe, the focus will be on converting its stronger opening into sustained theatrical momentum. For Daayra, the immediate challenge is to recover from the sharp post-weekend decline and attract audiences back to theatres.

Vibe also marks Kunal Khemu’s second directorial venture after Madgaon Express. He has also written the story of the film.

With the final Day 5 numbers still awaited, the box office picture could change slightly. However, the early figures indicate that both Daayra and Vibe have entered a crucial stretch where sustained audience interest will determine their theatrical run.
