A 30-year-old Delhi judicial officer, Aman Kumar Sharma, was found dead at his residence in Green Park on Saturday, with police suspecting suicide after his body was discovered inside the bathroom of the house. Sharma was serving as Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in North-East Delhi at Karkardooma Court, a posting later confirmed by the Karkardooma Bar Association.

According to police, a PCR call was received at Safdarjung Enclave police station around 1.45 pm, made by the deceased’s brother-in-law, Shivam, who informed officers that Sharma had died by suicide in the bathroom. Police teams rushed to the Green Park residence soon after. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Initial findings suggest death by hanging, and officers said there were no immediate signs of foul play, though every angle is being examined.

Family alleges tension at home

The case has taken a troubling turn following the family’s account of events in the hours before Sharma’s death. A relative, quoting the father’s statement, said Sharma called his father around 10 pm the previous night and told him, “I am very troubled, it has become difficult for me to live.” The father, who was in Alwar, rushed to Delhi and reached the house around midnight.

The family has alleged that Sharma had been under severe domestic stress for the past two months and was having issues with his wife, who is also a judicial officer. They claimed he had said he was being mentally harassed at home and that his wife had “full control” over the household. The father also alleged that attempts to contact the wife’s parents were blocked and that a relative from her side, called in to help resolve the matter, later stepped away from the discussion.

The final hours

The family’s version says there was a loud argument inside the house shortly before the incident. According to their account, Sharma was in one room while his wife was in another, and at one point he was crying while she was speaking loudly. Later, when Sharma could not be found, his phone was dialled and it reportedly rang from inside the bathroom. The door was then forced open after access was gained through a window by breaking the glass.

Inside, Sharma was reportedly found hanging using a piece of cloth. Police said the body has been sent for postmortem, and they are speaking to family members and close associates to establish the sequence of events. Investigators are also examining phone records, personal circumstances and the broader domestic context to understand what may have led to the suspected suicide.

Career and background

Sharma joined the Delhi Judicial Service on June 19, 2021, after completing his BA LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in 2018. He had handled both criminal and civil matters during his service and was posted as the full-time Secretary of the North-East DLSA at Karkardooma Court from October 2025.

The death has sent shockwaves through Delhi’s legal community, especially because Sharma was seen as a young officer with a promising career ahead. As the investigation continues, police are expected to piece together both the professional and personal pressures that may have contributed to the tragedy.
