After what felt like an endless wait for fans of Westeros, House of the Dragon is finally back. The much-awaited third season of HBO’s blockbuster fantasy drama premieres tonight, bringing audiences back into the heart of the brutal Targaryen civil war. After two years of anticipation, dragons are ready to soar once again, and this time, the battle for the Iron Throne promises to be bigger, darker, and deadlier than ever.

The new season consists of eight episodes and kicks off in the United States on Sunday, June 21, at 9:00 PM ET/PT on HBO. It will also stream simultaneously on Max. For Indian viewers, the wait is only a matter of hours longer. The premiere episode, which runs for approximately 72 minutes, will be available on Monday, June 22, exclusively on JioHotstar. New episodes will continue to drop every Monday.

Season 2 ended with tensions reaching a boiling point. Alliances had fractured, armies were mobilising, and dragons were preparing for war. The political manoeuvring that defined the earlier seasons has now given way to open conflict, with neither side willing to compromise.

At the centre of the conflict are Team Black, led by Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Team Green, headed by Alicent Hightower and King Aegon II. Both factions have suffered devastating losses and are determined to emerge victorious, regardless of the cost. As the war intensifies, viewers can expect shifting loyalties, heartbreaking betrayals, and battles that could change the fate of Westeros forever.

One of the most anticipated moments of Season 3 is the legendary Battle of the Gullet. Readers of George R.R. Martin’s lore know it as one of the bloodiest and most consequential conflicts in Targaryen history. Showrunner Ryan Condal has already teased larger-scale action sequences, emotionally charged confrontations, and a deeper exploration of how war destroys families and kingdoms alike.

The fan-favourite cast also returns. Emma D’Arcy reprises the role of the determined Rhaenyra Targaryen, while Matt Smith returns as the unpredictable Prince Daemon. Olivia Cooke is back as Alicent Hightower, a character whose choices continue to shape the destiny of the Seven Kingdoms.

As dragons take to the skies and noble houses pick sides, one thing is certain: peace in Westeros is long gone. The Dance of the Dragons has entered its most dangerous phase, and for fans, the wait is finally over. Prepare for fire, blood, and heartbreak—because the war for the Iron Throne begins again tonight.
