Iran’s New Supreme Leader Suffers From ‘Minor Leg Injury’; Israel Attacks Southern Lebanon

Recent reports from Iran International claimed the new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei suffered a minor leg injury during the US-Israeli airstrikes on his compound. Meanwhile, Israel continued its attacks on southern Lebanon amid heightened regional tensions.

Mojtaba Khamanei injured

Iran International, citing a senior Iranian official, reported that Mojtaba Khamenei suffered a minor injury in strikes that targeted key sites in Tehran. Khamenei was the subject of multiple reports from sources like The New York Times and Israeli officials who claimed severe wounds on his legs during the beginning of the war. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi disputed any claims of disfigurement and insisted that Khamenei continued to be active in his duties. There has not been an official statement from Iran on his current condition, leading to further speculation fueled by his public absence.

Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed the Supreme Leader of Iran following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei.

Israel strikes Southern Lebanon

Israeli military carried out new airstrikes on south of Lebanon’s ‘yellow line’ considered to be Hezbollah threats. The strikes included artillery shelling and gunfire on multiple villages. Al Jazeera claimed that it was the first time a ‘yellow line’ was established in Lebanon after imposing a similar measure in Gaza.

The Israeli military said in a statement on Saturday that over the previous 24 hours, its forces “operating south of the Yellow Line in southern Lebanon identified terrorists who violated the ceasefire understandings and approached the forces from north of the Yellow Line in a manner that posed an immediate threat”.

Al Jazeera reported ongoing bombings in areas like Ansariya while Beirut was omitted from the attacks due to alleged US pressure.

Retaliation by Hezbollah allies included an IED attack killing an Israeli soldier and wounding nine.

Both incidents took place after the failed US-Iran negotiations, threatening to delay the talks further.
