Kannada cinema is set to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence, social media and youth culture with the upcoming science-fiction film Lambodhara 2.0, which is scheduled to release in theatres on November 20, 2026. The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Simple Suni and marks Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor’s debut in Kannada cinema.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced the release date through a post on X, describing the project as an ambitious Kannada science-fiction social thriller. The film stars Anil Shetty, Saachi Bindra and Kunal Kapoor, alongside a real-life humanoid robot named Jia.

The makers have also announced that the film’s first look will be unveiled on October 14, 2026, ahead of its theatrical release.

Lambodhara 2.0 Introduces Humanoid Robot Jia

One of the film’s major attractions is Jia, a humanoid robot developed by Bengaluru-based Machani Robotics. The robot features prominently in the project, bringing real-world robotics into a Kannada cinematic narrative.

The inclusion of a humanoid robot is expected to distinguish the film from conventional thrillers by combining technological innovation with storytelling. Rather than relying exclusively on computer-generated characters, the production incorporates a real robotic creation into its cinematic world.

The film also stars Anil Shetty, Saachi Bindra, Mac D’Souza and Meghana Gaonkar in key roles. Anil Shetty is making his debut with the project, which is being produced by Anil Shetty and Mass Productions.

Mahaveer Jain Films will present the film, according to the announcement shared by Taran Adarsh.

Simple Suni Explores AI, Gen Z and Social Media

Directed by Simple Suni, Lambodhara 2.0 is positioned as an AI-driven social thriller exploring the changing relationship between technology and contemporary society.

According to the filmmakers, the story is rooted in the complexities of Gen Z life on social media. It examines themes surrounding artificial intelligence, youth and the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.

The film’s synopsis describes it as a socially relevant, high-concept thriller intended to connect with today’s digitally connected generation.

With social media increasingly influencing communication, identity and everyday interactions, the film aims to explore contemporary questions through the science-fiction genre. Its central themes place technology alongside the social experiences and challenges faced by younger generations.

The involvement of Jia also provides a distinctive technological element, connecting the film’s subject matter with real-world developments in robotics and artificial intelligence.

Kunal Kapoor Makes His Kannada Cinema Debut

The project marks Kunal Kapoor’s first appearance in Kannada cinema, adding a notable Hindi film industry name to the cast.

His involvement brings together talent associated with different parts of the Indian film industry, while the film itself remains rooted in Kannada-language storytelling.

Anil Shetty and Saachi Bindra are also among the principal cast members, with Mac D’Souza and Meghana Gaonkar contributing to the ensemble.

The film’s combination of an established director, a cross-industry cast and a real humanoid robot places it among the upcoming Kannada projects exploring technology-led narratives.

Shooting Completed Ahead of November Release

The shooting of Lambodhara 2.0 began in January 2026 and has recently been completed, according to the supplied information.

With production wrapped, the film is moving towards its promotional campaign, beginning with the scheduled first-look reveal on October 14.

The theatrical release is planned for November 20, 2026.

As anticipation builds, the film’s treatment of artificial intelligence, its humanoid robotic character and its focus on Gen Z and social media will be central to its identity.

The upcoming release represents another attempt to bring science fiction and socially relevant themes into Kannada cinema, with Lambodhara 2.0 aiming to connect technological concepts with the experiences of a digitally connected audience.
