Several highly anticipated Indian titles are making their digital debut this week, including Parineeti Chopra’s ‘Shaque: Trust No One’, Aneet Padda and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s ‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’, and Alia Bhatt-backed ‘Don’t Be Shy’. Here is a look at some of the major releases.
‘Shaque: Trust No One’ – Netflix
Parineeti Chopra is making her series debut with the mystery thriller ‘Shaque: Trust No One’. The eight-episode series follows a mother who has spent years searching for her abducted child. When new information begins to emerge, she is forced to question the people around her and decide whom she can trust.
The series also stars Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Soni Razdan, Anup Soni, Harleen Sethi and Sumeet Vyas. It will premiere on Netflix on September 24.
‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ – JioHotstar
‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ is a courtroom and crime drama featuring Aneet Padda, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor.
The story revolves around a 17-year-old girl whose accusation against a powerful spiritual leader leads to a wider investigation involving the police, courts and media. The series explores themes of faith, power and the pursuit of justice.
‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ premieres on JioHotstar on September 25.
‘Don’t Be Shy’ – Amazon Prime Video
For viewers looking for romance and coming-of-age drama, ‘Don’t Be Shy’ arrives on Amazon Prime Video on September 25.
The film follows Shyamili Shy Das, a young woman whose carefully planned life takes an unexpected turn after a breakup. As she deals with heartbreak, career ambitions and adulthood, she develops an unlikely friendship with her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend.
The project marks Alia Bhatt’s debut as a producer and explores relationships, friendship and the uncertainties of young adulthood.
‘Rise & Fall Season 2’ – Prime Video and MX Player
Reality-show fans also have a major release to look forward to with ‘Rise & Fall Season 2’. The new season brings 15 contestants into a competition built around power, strategy and changing social status.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag takes over as host, while contestants are divided between Rulers and Workers. The show is scheduled to begin streaming on September 26, with daily episodes planned during its 42-day run.
‘The Love Hypothesis’ – Amazon Prime Video
Romance fans can also watch ‘The Love Hypothesis’, starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman. The story follows a doctoral student who enters a fake relationship with an intimidating professor, only for the arrangement to become more complicated as genuine feelings develop.
The film arrives on Amazon Prime Video on September 23.
‘Bakaiti Season 2’ – ZEE5
The Kataria family returns with another season of ‘Bakaiti’. The second season brings more family drama, arguments and comedy as two Kataria households find themselves living under the same roof.
The Hindi series premieres on ZEE5 on September 25.
‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ – ZEE5
Yash-starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ is also reportedly scheduled for its digital release on ZEE5 on September 25. The action crime thriller, directed by Geetu Mohandas, also features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi.
