The much-awaited trailer of Pritam and Pedro has finally been released, and it promises an entertaining blend of comedy, suspense, and cybercrime. The upcoming web series is creating plenty of buzz as it marks celebrated filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s debut in the OTT space as creator, co-writer, and producer. It also introduces his son, Vir Hirani, who is making his acting debut alongside Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Avinash Arun, known for Killa and Paatal Lok Season 2, the series combines Rajkumar Hirani’s signature emotional storytelling with a fast-paced cybercrime investigation, making it one of the most anticipated OTT releases of the year.
A Unique Buddy-Cop Story With a Digital Twist
The trailer introduces viewers to Pedro Gonsalves, played by Arshad Warsi, an experienced police officer who believes in chasing criminals on the streets rather than behind computer screens. However, after a clash with a powerful minister, Pedro is transferred to the cybercrime department as punishment.
There, he is partnered with Pritam, portrayed by debutant Vir Hirani. Pritam is a brilliant cybersecurity expert whose intelligence is unmatched, though his socially awkward personality often leads to humorous situations.
The unlikely duo is soon assigned their biggest challenge when the minister’s son is kidnapped. To crack the case, Pedro’s old-school policing methods must work hand in hand with Pritam’s advanced hacking skills. Standing in their way is a mysterious cybercriminal played by Vikrant Massey, whose character appears to be both intelligent and dangerously unpredictable.
Interestingly, the story is inspired by real cybercrime cases documented in cybersecurity expert Amit Dubey’s books Hidden Files and Return of the Trojan Horse, giving the series a layer of authenticity alongside its entertainment value.
Power-Packed Cast Raises Expectations
Apart from Arshad Warsi and Vir Hirani, the series boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Vikrant Massey takes on the role of the primary antagonist, promising a refreshing change after several intense dramatic performances.
The supporting cast includes Rajkumar Hirani’s long-time collaborators Boman Irani and Mona Singh, who are expected to bring warmth and humour to the narrative. Adding to the excitement is Sanjay Dutt’s special appearance, which reunites him with Arshad Warsi and is sure to delight fans of the iconic Munna Bhai franchise.
Vir Hirani’s Debut and the Nepotism Conversation
With Vir Hirani stepping into Bollywood, discussions around nepotism have naturally surfaced. However, Rajkumar Hirani has clarified that his son did not receive any special treatment. According to the filmmaker, Vir trained at London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) before auditioning for the role like every other aspiring actor. Director Avinash Arun conducted regular auditions, and Vir secured the part only after proving himself during the casting process.
Release Date
Packed with humour, action, emotional moments, and a gripping cybercrime mystery, Pritam and Pedro looks set to offer a fresh take on the buddy-cop genre. With Rajkumar Hirani making his OTT debut and a talented ensemble leading the story, expectations are understandably high.
The series will premiere exclusively on JioHotstar on July 3, 2026, and fans are eager to see whether this unique combination of comedy and cyber-thriller lives up to the excitement generated by its trailer.
