The White House stirred global attention on Thursday, posting a graphic on X, titled “Justice will be served”, featuring President Donald Trump with pictures of Nicolas Maduro (former President of Venezuela), Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (former Supreme Leader of Iran), Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki (Islamic State leader) and Raul Castro (former President of Cuba) below him. Labels such as “arrested”, “killed”, or “indicted” were allocated to each of them, with the caption above being “The Enemies of America Neutralised by President Donald J Trump”.

The post comes following a series of events targeting the above nations, the latest being the indictment of Cuban former President Raul Castro in connection with the downing of two civilian planes operated by anti-Castro groups in 1996.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Wednesday, “For the first time in nearly 70 years, senior leadership of the Cuban regime has been charged in this country, in the United States of America, for acts of violence resulting in the deaths of American citizens.”

The White House’s post highlighted Trump’s “America First” narrative, claiming to focus on national security and aggressive counter-terrorism. The move drew polarised responses from the general public. While many called it a glorification of language that celebrated killings and prosecutions, others applauded it for enhancing accountability against America’s opponents.

Meanwhile, the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran continue to be at a standstill, with both sides continuing to exchange threats. Trump said on Monday that he was “an hour away” from ordering fresh strikes while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to push the war “beyond the region” if the attacks resumed. Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is scheduled to visit Tehran on Thursday as Iran reviews proposals sent by the U.S to end the war.

Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the White House’s post.
