U.S President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that an official deal to end the ongoing war with Iran will be signed on Friday. Iran has also confirmed the announcement, stating that an end to the military aggressions will be declared early on Monday morning GMT.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif first announced the news on X on Sunday and said that a “permanent termination of military operations on all fronts” had been agreed upon, including in Lebanon. Pakistan has been the top mediator in hosting indirect talks between the two countries.
Trump confirmed Sharif’s statement in his Truth Social platform, declaring, “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.”
As per Trump, the deal authorised “the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz” and “the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade”.
“This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region. Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me. The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace” he added “With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!”
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi also confirmed an end to military operations soon.
He told Iran’s Tasnim news agency that an “immediate and permanent end to the war and military operations on various fronts, including Lebanon” would be announced on Monday.
He clarified that negotiations on a final agreement would take place during a 60-day period, contingent on Iran verifying that the United States had fulfilled its end of the deal. Demands raised by Tehran include ending hostilities, lifting the naval blockade, and releasing frozen Iranian assets.
