U.S President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared an hour-long call on how to proceed with the Iran War, reportedly leading to disagreements. According to media reports, Netanyahu pushed for the strikes on Tehran to resume whereas Trump maintained his stance on giving a chance to diplomacy before resorting to weapons.

According to Axios, Netanyahu is reportedly sceptical about the peace negotiations and wants to continue the war to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities and critical infrastructure to weaken the regime.

Trump, on the other hand, wants to give a chance to negotiations and believes a deal can be reached. However, he expressed readiness to resume the war if there was no diplomatic progress.

Sources, who were briefed on the call, told Axios that Trump informed Netanyahu that mediators Qatar and Pakistan were working on a “letter of intent” that the United States and Iran would sign to officially end the war. The signing will lead to a 30-day period of negotiations which will be used to discuss matters such as Iran’s nuclear programme and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Israeli sources told the outlet that Netanyahu did not agree with Trump’s strategies.

CNN spoke to sources, who said that Netanyahu made his disappointment known and told Trump that delaying the expected attacks would be a mistake, insisting the attacks should continue as planned.

“Bibi’s hair was on fire after the call,” said a U.S official, referring to Netanyahu’s reaction.

Despite disagreements, Trump came forward to reporters and said the Israeli Prime Minister “will do whatever I want him to do” on Iran, while insisting that they have a good relationship.

He said at the Coast Guard Academy, “The only question is, do we go and finish it up, or are they gonna be signing a document. Let’s see what happens.”

Trump also told reporters that the United States and Iran were “right on the borderline” between reaching a deal and continuing the war.
