Trump Puts Pressure On Iran; Says “Clock Is Ticking”

US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, mentioning that time is running out for the West Asian country. He took to his Truth Social platform to reinforce the message.

“I have all the time in the world, but Iran doesn’t – The clock is ticking!” he wrote.

According to reports, the coming days will see more pressure being piled on Tehran.

However, Trump strongly ruled out the use of nuclear weapons, focusing more on Washington’s conventional military strength. He spoke at the White House, maintaining his stance that nuclear weapons should never be used. He asserted that US objectives had been achieved without resorting to them.

Trump’s message coincides with a major expansion of US military presence in West Asia. Washington deployed a third aircraft carrier, the USS George HW Bush, strengthening its strategic position. According to the US Central Command, one carrier group is operating in the Red Sea while two are positioned in the Gulf.

Role of the Strait of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz continues to be a major factor deciding the fate of the war. The economically critical naval passage was responsible for transporting around 20% of the world’s oil and gas supplies before tensions escalated between the two countries. Iran has imposed restrictions in the strait as a reciprocation towards the US and Israeli attacks, whereas US Navy Forces have tightened its blockade on Iranian shipping.

Trump ordered the US Navy to take military action and destroy Iranian boats found laying mines in the strait, highlighting the importance of keeping the channel open amidst the global energy crisis.

Proposed peace negotiations

The second round of talks between the United States and Iran were set to be held in Islamabad this week but has been stalled due to the contionuous escalations happening in the Strait of Hormuz.
